Katterwall provides high quality, enjoyable musical experiences ranging from one-on-one singing lessons to one-off workshops, year round choirs to corporate entertainment.
Bethan Greaves - Director Bethan arrived in Hong Kong on 1st January 1999. Her first 4 years were spent working for the Hong Kong Youth Arts Festival as a project manager during which time she set up several choirs as well as musical directing two flagship shows: 'Little Shop Of Horrors' and 'Bugsy'. As a performer, Bethan has worked in many genres: musical theatre, classical, corporate entertainment, educational recording work, TV and film recording. Her passions are musical theatre and English choral music. Amongst others, she has worked with the HK Philharmonic Chorus, HK Bach Choir, HK Chamber Orchestra, St. John's College Chorale, ACT, HK Players and Lindsey McAlister Productions. Celia Leung - General Manager Celia is Hong Kong born Chinese with over 15 years singing experience. She has sung with the Cecilian Singers, Hong Kong Voices, HKU Union Choir, HKU University Choir, Niderosdomen Girls' Choir (Norway) and Heavenly Voices - where she first met Bethan in 2000. As a conductor, Celia conducted her secondary school and university choirs.After completing a music degree at the University of Hong Kong, Celia began her arts administration career as a Customer Services Officer for the Hong Kong Arts Festival. She then worked as an Administration Coordinator for local theatre group "Edward Lam Dance Theatre" before joining Katterwall. Celia also teaches for the Hong Kong Treble Choir. Fani Kwok - Administration Coordinator Fani is a Hong Kong born Chinese. She has a Diploma in Design (Visual Communication) having studied at Lee Wai Lee Technical Institute. Having graduated, she was a Graphic Designer for two years. Whilst working, she studied a Certificate in Business Management at The Hong Kong Baptist University. Then, she went on to work for Toys"R"Us (HK) Ltd. as a Graphic Co-ordinator. She has also studied in Leeds, UK completing a Higher Diploma in Business and Management.
She likes listening to music and also making it. She played the flute for a number of years. She also loves to dance, having studied ballet and Jazz dancing. She has great love and appreciation of theatre, musicals, arts, crafts, travelling and cooking.
Matthew Hale - Voice Teacher, Performer & Conductor Matthew began his musical and vocal training at the world renowned Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, London and continued at the London College of Music. Since then, he attained a First Class honours degree in Music and Business and completed his Bachelor of Music in performance at the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music, England. Whilst at the Conservatoire he spent his third year training as a vocal teacher. He is an accomplished performer of many musical styles including Baroque, Classical, Opera, Musical Theatre and Pop. In the UK, he taught voice to individuals and groups both privately and at stage school. He has worked with many well known conductors and directors including: Stephen Barlow, Dominic Wheeler (ENO), Christian Curnyn (Early Opera Company), Alexander Ingram, Stephen Wilder (formerly ROH), Andrew Greenwood (Buxton Festival, Opera North) and Jeffrey Skidmore (ExCathedra). Matthew was a finalist in the Birmingham Conservatoire Singing Prize 2005 and in the Reginald Vincent Lieder Prize in 2004. He is a cofounder of The Arianna Consort who toured Germany to critical acclaim in 2004 and who were also in the same year, guests at the International Charpentier Conference. Camille Lively - Voice Teacher, Performer & Conductor Camille earned her BA in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Plymouth State University, New Hampshire, USA. While pursuing her degree, she completed many hours of additional study in acting, musical theatre and dance and maintained a private voice studio for both young people and adults. She performed extensively with the Music Theatre Company, Contemporary Dance Ensemble, and Educational Theatre Collaborative both in principle and ensemble roles. A former member of the Plymouth State University Chamber Singers, Camille has performed internationally including a High Holy Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome, and tours of South Africa, Brazil, Canada and the US. Camille comes to Katterwall from St. Louis where she maintained a private voice studio, assisted with group voice classes at St. Louis Community College and worked with choir and theatre classes and full-scale stage and musical productions with a local high school. Since arriving in Hong Kong Camille has appeared in 'Figaro', 'Company' and 'Murder Under The Mistletoe'. She was also the winner of Hong Kong's 1st Broadway Idol in September 2007. Jessica Parson - Voice Teacher, Performer & Conductor Jessica is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University (USA) with a Bachelor of Arts in music - vocal emphasis, she is a versatile soloist, musician, composer, and individual. Her interests in church music, world music, opera, musical theatre, vocal pedagogy, and pop culture have given Miss Parson diverse experiences and educational opportunities. Some of Miss Parson's educational experiences include: courses in world music, African-American music, an independent course on church music and hymn-writing, multi-cultural theatre, multiple theology/religious courses, inter-cultural communication, vocal pedagogy, vocal diction, music history, music theory, sight-singing and ear-training, opera workshops, and much more. Her performance experience is extensive and includes: Eunice in the Midwest regional premiere of "A Streetcar Named Desire" (NWU 2007), senior soloist performance of "Lia's Recitative and Aria" by Debussy with the Lincoln Civic Orchestra (2007), masters class with soprano Martha Hart (2007), opera workshop scenes: Lizzie Borden in "Lizzie Borden" (2006), Mother Abbess in "Suor Angelica" (2005).
Jessica is proficient and performing at a high level in Italian, French, English, German, Spanish, Russian and Latin. She maintained a private voice studio for 3 1/2 of her 4 years of undergraduate studies. With students of various ages and abilities, She has good experience of teaching both male and female voices, young and old, and styles as different as contemporary Christian to opera aria. Community involvement, both music and non-music related, is important to Miss Parson. Her involvement includes: member & vice-president for SNATS (Students of National Association of Teachers of Singing) Nebraska Wesleyan (2006-2007); member of Mu Phi Epsilon, an honorary music and academic fraternity (2006-2007), Children's Church ministry coordinator of Faith Missionary Church (2006-2007), and Lighthouse youth mentor (2003-2007).
