Katterwall Vocal Academy

Katterwall Vocal Academy, established in 2002 under the direction of Bethan Greaves, has inspired hundreds of students in Hong Kong to develop their passion for singing.  Our teaching staff has grown from one to currently eight teachers; all active performers in the professional and amateur music scene in both HK and overseas.

Mission Statement
We provide our students with the opportunity to develop their voice to its full potential, exploring a diverse repertoire of musical styles in a supportive and inspiring environment.  We believe in nurturing the whole musician through a well-rounded music education.

Singing Tuition

One-on-one tuition for students aged 11+. Lessons comprise of warm-ups, sight singing, 'practical' theory and learning songs from classical and popular repertoires. Lessons can be geared towards school exams (esp. GCSE & IB), music exams (ABRSM / Trinity College), specific performances, auditions or just for pure enjoyment!

Music Theory Tuition

Theory is often relegated to an afterthought for many music students. However, a solid understanding of the basics of music theory are vital for the well-rounded musician. Theory lessons focus on the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) syllabus and students are encouraged to enter exams as and when appropriate. Grade 5 Theory is a pre-requisite for every student wishing to go beyond Grade 5 in their practical exams.

Aural Skills

Most school music syllabi carry a high percentage of marks for the listening element - yet this is often the area left most to chance. Weekly lessons give students the opportunity to broaden their musical knowledge, increase their vocabulary and practice the many different skills required for the listening paper. 

All lessons can be 30 / 45 / 60 minutes long

Fees (effective from 1st January 2011)

Lesson fees are charged every 2 months.

With Andrew Swift, Yen Yen Ng, Terri Oliver, Naomi Symeou, Colette Lam, Chen Yong in singing, music theory & musicianship skills and Wyman Yuen in music theory

Individual lessons:
$720 for 60 minutes
$540 for 45 minutes
$370 for 30 minutes

Group lessons with 2 or 3 students per lesson:
$576 for 60 minutes per student

With Bethan Greaves in music theory, musicianship skills & schoolwork support:

Individual lessons:
$830 for 60 minutes
$623 for 45 minutes
$420 for 30 minutes

Group lessons with 2 or 3 students per lesson:
$664 for 60 minutes per student

Trial lessons (for adult students ONLY)

Trial lesson package of 4 lessons with Andrew, Yen Yen, Terri, Colette, Naomi and Chen Yong.  
4  30-min lessons - $1,580
4  45-min lessons - $2,260
4  60-min lessons - $2,980
Fees included administration fee $100.  If the student choose to continue after these 4 lessons, the admin fee will be reimbursed. 

Special Coaching Sessions for both children (ages 9+) and adults

One-on-one coaching sessions with our teachers can help add that extra touch of polish to your performance for upcoming auditions, school / college applications, musical productions, debut stage performances or singing competitions.
